Job summary

SST Schools in San Antonio, Texas is seeking a SPED Program Coordinator to coordinate Special Education, 504 and Dyslexia services in accordance with federal, state, and district requirements. The role focuses on implementing IEP/504 plans tailored to individual student needs and ensuring compliant instructional support.

You will train staff, monitor student progress, and collaborate with administrators and district personnel to deliver effective SPED/504 services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• 2 years of special education teaching experience (preferred).
• Valid Texas Educator Certification with required special education endorsement (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Trains teachers of SPED and general education staff on confidentiality of students per state and federal laws.
• Participates in professional development and staff meetings as required.
• Assists administration in scheduling SPED classes.
• Plans and implements staff development and in-service programs for SPED.
• Monitors SPED/504 students’ progress using formative and summative evaluations to coordinate instruction and scheduling.
• Compiles and maintains required reports and documents.
• Ensures SPED classrooms are safe, organized, and conducive to learning.
• Maintains communication with parents, students, principals, and teachers about student progress.
• Collaborates with district personnel and other professionals to inform SPED/504 services and programs.
• Advocates for SPED/504 students to ensure equitable opportunities.
• Continually communicates instructional expectations to students.
• Supports general and SPED teachers in implementing strategies to meet students’ needs.
• Supports accommodations and modifications for IEPs in general education and SPED time.
• Ensures educational programs reflect learning styles and modalities, disseminates modifications and accommodations.
• Plans and administers SPED/504 programs and services, including ARD/504 meetings.
• Participates in placement decisions based on data.
• Assists staff in providing an appropriate educational environment for mainstreamed students.
• Sets new objectives from evaluation findings for ARD recommendations.
• Assesses relation between student performance and handicapping conditions.
• Performs related work as required.
