Job summary

Mesa Public Schools in Mesa, AZ is hiring a paraeducator to assist under the supervision of certified teachers and specialists in monitoring and instructing special education students under IEPs. You will help students with academics, daily living tasks, and health care activities, and support clerical duties as needed.

The role emphasizes independent action with minimal guidance, data collection on goals, adapting curriculum to learner needs, and implementing positive behavior plans.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 60 college credits required at hire or pass ParaPro test
• 6 months experience with preschool children

Responsibilities

• Deliver instruction under teacher direction, provide 1:1 or small group support aligned to IEP goals
• Assist in developing instructional materials and classroom setup
• Collect and monitor data on academic and behavioral goals using district tools
• Modify curriculum to meet individual learning needs
• Implement positive behavior intervention plans for challenging behaviors
• Assist with transitions across campus and supervision of students
• Perform general clerical tasks to support teachers and maintain student files
• Assist with Medicaid billing in school programs (training provided)
