Job summary

Murphy K-8 in Boston Public Schools is seeking a paraprofessional to cover SPED subs and SEP inclusion programs for grades K-8 on a temporary basis. The position is expected to end when the current paraprofessional returns on 2/22/27.

You will assist teachers with instruction, prepare instructional materials, manage classroom behavior, supervise field trips, and support a high-quality, inclusive learning environment across diverse classrooms. Salary details follow district scales.

Qualifications

• Education requirement: High School Diploma or GED.
• 48 college credits or an Associate’s Degree or a passing score on ParaPro or WorkKeys.
• Minimum of two years experience working with young children.
• Current authorization to work in the United States.
• Preferred: Associate’s or Bachelor's Degree; teaching certification or social work license.

Responsibilities

• Supports direct instruction to children individually, in small groups, and in classroom settings.
• Provides assistance with classroom activities.
• Prepares instructional materials.
• Assists in classroom set up and clean up.
• Manages individual and classroom behavior, using prescribed approaches.
• Supervises students on field trips.
• Performs other related duties as requested by Head of School/Principal.
