Job summary

Jubilee Academies in San Antonio, TX seeks a Special Education Paraprofessional to support students with disabilities and at-risk learners. The role focuses on creating an organized, supportive classroom environment and assisting instructional programs.

You will work under teachers and campus principals, implement targeted strategies, assist with testing, maintain records, and supervise students during the day, including lunch and playground duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 48+ semester hours or valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate.
• Ability to work well with children and follow instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff and students.
• Knowledge of general office, safety and food service equipment.
• 3-5 years of experience with children in a classroom setting.
• Experience assisting with reading, writing and mathematics readiness.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher with instructing and supervising students in classroom activities, focusing on at-risk students.
• Assist teacher in devising and implementing strategies for reinforcing skills based on individual needs.
• Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Develop appropriate individualized activities for at-risk students.
• Provide one-on-one or small group supervision as necessary.
• Conduct instructional exercises, work with individuals or small groups.
• Supervise students throughout the day (lunch, playground, street crossing).
• Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
• Complete other duties to support the Title 1 program.
• Work week starts at 7:30 a.m.
• Adhere to staff dress code and Jubilee culture.
• Participate in fundraising and staff development activities.
• Attend faculty meetings and events.
