Job summary

Mesa County Valley School District 51 is seeking a SPED Significant Support Needs (LIFE) teacher for a temporary assignment. You will plan, implement, and evaluate instructional programs for students with severe needs, lead IEP implementation, and supervise paraprofessional staff within an inclusionary framework.

You will collaborate with families, related services, and administrators to ensure compliant and effective education aligned to Colorado standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution required.
• Valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Educator License with Special Education Generalist endorsement.
• Quality Behavior Solutions certification (QBS) must be obtained within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, and implement instructional programs aligned to district curriculum and students' IEPs.
• Provide instruction in whole-group, small-group, and individualized settings to meet a wide range of student needs.
• Develop and adapt lesson plans and materials to support student progress.
• Promote inclusionary practices by modifying curriculum, materials, and instructional strategies.
• Implement and monitor IEP goals, objectives, and transition plans with the IEP team.
• Monitor and evaluate student progress across academics, behavior, social and emotional domains.
• Adjust instructional strategies based on data and progress monitoring.
• Establish a structured, safe learning environment and supervise student behavior.
• Communicate regularly with families and staff regarding student progress and needs.
• Collaborate with teachers, service providers, and administrators to support student success.
• Participate in IEP meetings and team discussions.
• Provide instructional direction to paraprofessional staff and support scheduling for services.
• Complete special education documentation per laws, policies, and timelines.
• Demonstrate commitment to equity, diversity, and professional standards.
• Perform other duties as needed.
