Job summary

Mesa County Valley School District 51 is seeking a Paraprofessional, Special Education (Sped) - Significant Support (LIFE/SSN) at Redlands Middle School. This role provides instructional, behavioral, and personal-care support to students with disabilities, under licensed staff guidance.

You will implement IEP goals, reinforce behavior strategies, and help maintain a structured learning environment. Collaboration with teachers, specialists, and staff is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate's degree / 48 college hours or WorkKeys passing score for Title I schools.
• Two years of experience with children preferred.
• Experience with students with disabilities or supporting significant needs preferred.
• Coursework or training in special education, behavior support, child development, or healthcare preferred.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) when assigned to bilingual program.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support in various settings (individual, small group, classroom).
• Assist with IEP goals, accommodations, and modifications under licensed staff.
• Adapt materials for diverse learning and sensory needs.
• Support student engagement through prompting and scaffolding.
• Maintain structured, predictable routines and assistive environments.
• Assist with assistive technology and adaptive equipment.
