Job summary

San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District's Rodriguez Elementary in San Marcos, Texas seeks an Instructional Associate – SPED to support students with disabilities under a certified teacher. This nonexempt role assists with daily activities, classroom routines, and behavior management to enable individualized instruction.

The ideal candidate holds a high school diploma or higher, plus relevant college credits or an Associate degree, and a Texas Educational Aide Certificate.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its recognized equivalent and meet one of the following requirements.
• Complete at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (48 semester hours) or equivalent
• Possess an associate (or higher) degree; or
• Meet a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrate knowledge of instructional reading, writing, and mathematics readiness as appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Uphold and enforce school rules, admin regulations, and board policy.
• Assist students with physical disabilities including transfers to/from wheelchairs and positioning.
• Assist with personal care including feeding, bathroom needs and hygiene.
• Assist in managing behavior and crisis intervention as needed.
• Work with students to develop motor skills and instructional activities.
• Supervise students inside/outside classroom (lunchroom, bus duty, playground).
• Maintain confidential information and support teachers with records/reports.
