Job summary

Paradise Valley Unified School District is seeking an Instructional Assistant for Special Needs at Campo Bello Elementary. The role supports instructional programs, supervises and assists students with special needs in classrooms and related settings, and helps implement IEP plans under supervision.

You will assist in adapting activities, monitor student behavior, and communicate with staff and families. The position is non-interim, 9 months, with 6.5 hours per day and a starting date in August

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED and one of the following.
• 60 postsecondary hours of college coursework; or AA degree.
• Passing of ParaPro Assessment.
• ETS Parapro Assessment (https://www.ets.org/parapro).
• ACT WorkKeys (http://www.act.org).
• CPR and First Aid certifications are required.

Responsibilities

• Adapts classroom activities and materials under supervision to support objectives.
• Administers tests and homework to support teachers.
• Assists medically fragile or disabled students with care and basic needs.
• Attends meetings and trainings for job function updates.
• Communicates with staff and parents regarding student progress.
• Monitors students to ensure safe and positive learning environments.
• Implements behavioral plans and de-escalation strategies as needed.
• Performs general clerical tasks to support the instructional program.
• Provides instruction to students for individual and group activities to reinforce IEP objectives.
