Job summary

Shadow Mountain High School in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a SPED Instructional Assistant to support the instructional program and assist in supervision, care, and instruction of special needs students across regular and self-contained settings. The role emphasizes implementing IEP plans and monitoring student behavior.

Under supervision of teachers, you will adapt activities, assist with daily living skills and maintain documentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to follow supervisor directions and implement IEP objectives.
• Ability to work with SPED students in various settings.

Responsibilities

• Adapt activities and materials under supervision to support classroom objectives.
• Administer tests and homework to support teachers.
• Assist medically fragile or disabled students with daily needs and monitor hygiene.
• Communicate with staff and parents to evaluate progress and implement IEP objectives.
• Escort students to ensure safe arrival and departure from destinations.
• Implement behavioral plans designed by IEP team and de‑escalate as needed.
• Maintain records of instructional materials and student activities.
