Job summary

Wonderful College Prep Academy, a public charter school network in California’s Central Valley, seeks an Early SPED Instructional Assistant to support classroom learning and 1:1 or small group instruction. You will assist in behavioral and medical needs, and help deliver interventions.

The role requires teamwork with lead teachers, communication with families, and adherence to professional development and planning. On-site, full-time position with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, understand, and implement lessons based on state standards.
• Knowledge of providing assessments and progress monitoring; maintaining accurate records.
• Familiarity with and/or the ability to learn IEP documentation, and Special Ed Reporting Software (i.e., Siras) is preferred.
• Familiarity with and/or the ability to learn RTI, co-teaching, collaboration, and small group instruction.
• Training or familiarity with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
• Knowledge or familiarity with de-escalation strategies (CPI certified preferred).
• Certification in First Aid and/or CPR, when necessary.
• Proficiency with various technologies and teaching tools.

Responsibilities

• Support classroom learning and provide 1:1 or small group instruction as needed.
• Assist with students’ behavioral and medical needs, and provide interventions.
• Support campus supervision before, during, and after school; may include transportation duties.
• Communicate regularly with families and attend key community events.
• Assist the Special Education Teacher with clerical tasks and translation as needed.
• Lead the classroom in the absence of the lead teacher.
• Participate in professional development and school planning sessions.
