Job summary

The Fort Madison Community School District is seeking a Special Education Classroom Associate to provide instructional, supervisory, and behavioral support under the direction of certified staff and building administration. The position features a 7-hour workday across 178 instructional days per year, beginning August 17, 2026, with a pay rate of $14.50 per hour.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED and ability to assist in reading, writing and mathematics as applicable.
• Meets one of: two years of college, associates degree, para certification, or NCRC Bronze Level.

Responsibilities

• Assist in setting up classroom routines and transitions.
• Inform teacher of observed behaviors needing attention or office intervention.
• Support students with varying learning paces and needs.
• Manage student behavior with positive strategies.
• Supervise bus area, lunchroom, classrooms and transitions.
• Follow district and school expectations and procedures.
• Assist in implementing IEPs under guidance of the Special Education Teacher.
• Monitor classroom technology and safe use of devices.
