Job summary

Quest Diagnostics is hiring a Specimen Technician II in Hackensack, NJ. This is a hospital-based role at HUMC with responsibilities spanning complex specimen processing and adherence to policies and safety protocols.

The position requires advancing from SPT I with proficiency in test ordering policies, specimen requirements, and related processes. Shift is every other Saturday/Sunday, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, with pay range $17.20–$25.31 per hour and potential shift differentials.

Qualifications

• Required Work Experience: Internal candidates must have a minimum of 9 months experience and be meeting all performance standards in the SPT I role

Specimen Technician II - Hackensack, NJ, Every Other Saturday / Sunday, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM

Quest Diagnostics is hiring a Specimen Technician II in Hackensack, NJ. This role is a hospital-based position at HUMC.

This position in Specimen Processing is responsible for knowing all of the functions of the SPT I, plus additional functions. This individual will have completed the necessary training consistent with local business unit practices for Specimen Processing and shows proficiency in the following areas: Test ordering policy, specimen requirements related to test ordering. Additionally, must meet accuracy and production standards, and must meet all the job accountabilities and job requirements/environment indicated in the SPTI job description. This position is involved in more complex processing which could include but not limited to A Station, Frozen, CPU (incl. hospital), and Micro.

Pay range

Pay range: $17.20 - $25.31 / hour; employee may be eligible to receive shift differential of 10% for some or all hours worked on second shift and 15% for some or all hours worked on third shift. Additional details on shift differential will be provided if an offer is extended. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

Qualifications

Preferred Work Experience

• Medical background preferred which includes medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory
• Previous experience in a production environment preferred

Physical And Mental Requirements

• Position requires data background with abilities to enter 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes/hour
• Works in a biohazard environment, practicing good safety habits
• Able to sit or stand for long periods

Pursuant to code CA BPC 1269 under CLIA, any lab releasing results for California work must have at least a High School Diploma or equivalent.
