Responsibilities

• Accession and data entry of incoming specimens into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• Review requisitions for completeness and ensure proper collection, labeling, and specimen integrity.
• Maintain detailed records of specimen rejection and problem logs.
• Triage specimens to the appropriate department.
• Coordinate specimen shipping and communicate testing status with collection sites as needed.
• Assist collection sites to resolve communication problems.
• Obtain clinical information for quality control and billing purposes.
• Engage with offices and payors to verify coverage and obtain preauthorization for testing.
• Follow up on final reports and return of patient samples to the originating lab.
