Job summary

Midwest Center for Women’s Healthcare Laboratory is seeking a Specimen Processor - Accessioning to handle diverse specimens and support cytology, histology, molecular, clinical, and microbiology testing.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, familiarity with medical terminology, and about 2 years of laboratory-related experience. Shift: Mon–Fri 6:00 AM–2:30 PM. Opportunities for growth and comprehensive benefits are available.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent; strong data entry skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred
• 2 years’ experience as a lab assistant, specimen processor, or relevant experience in a lab is preferred

Responsibilities

• Receive and process specimens consistent with testing requirements and proper patient identification.
• Identify and label specimens and distribute them to the appropriate testing area
• Perform clerical and administrative duties
• Organize and monitor lab supplies for inventory
• Communicate specimen non-conformities to staff and leadership
• Clean and maintain work area and equipment
• Follow health and safety regulations for handling specimens
• Comply with lab procedures and methodologies
• Assist staff and leadership with additional duties as needed
