Job summary

Capital Women's Care Laboratory is seeking an Accessioner I to support cytology, histology, and molecular specimen processing. The role involves receiving and triaging specimens, accurate labeling, clerical duties, and maintaining lab areas while following safety guidelines. Schedule: Mon–Fri, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM.

Preferred candidates have medical terminology knowledge and about two years in a lab-related position, with strong data entry skills. Comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
• 2 years’ experience as a lab assistant, specimen processor, or relevant experience in a lab is preferred.
• High school degree or equivalent; strong data entry skills.

Responsibilities

• Receive and process specimens consistent with specimen requirements for testing, including positive patient identification and proper transport.
• Identify and accurately label specimens and distribute to the appropriate testing area.
• Perform clerical and administrative duties.
• Organize and monitor lab supplies for inventory levels as directed by laboratory leadership.
• Communicate specimen non-conformities to technical staff and/or laboratory leadership.
• Clean and maintain work area and all lab equipment and supplies.
• Follow health and safety regulations when handling laboratory specimens.
