Job summary

Labcorp in Portland, OR is seeking a dedicated Specimen Management associate to join our team. You will act as a liaison between the lab, clients and patients and help ensure accurate specimen handling.

This weekend night shift (Saturday 3:30pm-2:00am and Sunday 6:00pm-04:30am) requires excellent communication, meticulous data entry and careful handling of specimens. A High School diploma or GED is required; LabCorp experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Current or prior LabCorp experience is preferred.
• Associates degree is a plus.
• 6 months or more of medical/clinical laboratory experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Act as liaison between the lab, clients and patients.
• Resolve requests via calls, instant messenger and email.
• Communicate with customers in a respectful and professional manner.
• Research complex issues in multiple databases.
• Prepare and triage specimens for analysis.
• Identify and label specimens accurately.
• Pack and ship specimens as necessary.
• Prepare and store excess specimen samples.

LabCorp is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join their Specimen Management team in Portland, OR.

Work Schedule: Saturday 3:30pm-2:00am and Sunday 6:00pm-04:30am

Job Responsibilities:

• Act a liaison between the lab, clients, and patients.
• Resolve internal & external customer requests via calls, instant messenger & email communications
• Communicates with customers in respectful and professional manner.
• Work in multiple databases to research complex issues and questions.
• Provide customer education and information as needed.
• Review test forms for accuracy and report any discrepancies.
• Prepare and triage specimens for analysis.
• Accurately identify and label specimens.
• Pack and ship specimens as necessary.
• Prepare and store excess specimen samples.

Minimum Qualification:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Preferred Qualification:

• Current or prior LabCorp experience
• Associates degree
• 6 months/ years’ or more of experience in a medical/clinical laboratory experience

Additional Job Standards

• Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal
• Familiarity with laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
• Comfortable handling biological specimens
• Ability to accurately identify specimens
• Experience working in a team environment
• Strong data entry and organizational skills
• High level of attention to detail
• Proficient in MS Office
• Ability to lift up to 40lbs.
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
