Job summary

ChristianaCare is seeking a Full-time Specimen Processing Technician to support the Molecular Laboratory. The role is day shift, Monday through Friday, 7:30am–3:30pm, with potential holiday coverage and possible future weekend adjustments.

Responsibilities include pre-and post-analytical tasks, specimen processing, labeling, prioritization, and clear communication of specimen priority to the testing team.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in biology, chemistry or health science required, or High School diploma with at least five years of specimen processing experience in a similar hospital system.
• This role requires the ability to process, sort, and deliver laboratory specimens and handle labeling and prioritization tasks.

Responsibilities

• Process, sort, and deliver laboratory specimens and request slips.
• Print and affix identification labels to incoming patient specimens.
• Prioritize incoming work to meet stated turnaround times, including stat testing when required.
• Communicate specimen priority to testing personnel on delivery.

Education
