Job summary

ARUP Laboratories, a national clinical and anatomical pathology reference laboratory based in Salt Lake City, UT, seeks a Processing Tech I, II for Clinical Trials and Pharma. The role handles receipt, shipment manifesting, and processing of research specimens, with emphasis on accuracy, compliance, and coordination with internal teams.

Schedule: 7-On/7-Off B week, 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM. Open to individuals who value safety, documentation, and efficient specimen handling in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Must be able to type 30 WPM.
• Must successfully pass the departmental competency testing exam with a score of 90% or higher.
• Must maintain department quality requirements.

Responsibilities

• Open, evaluate, and process inbound shipments using ARUP shipment tracking applications.
• Ensure specimens are prioritized and processed promptly.
• Add and verify temperature-controlled materials as appropriate.
• Evaluate shipments for late priority, temperature compliance, and special handling.
• Monitor and manage Special Needs Requests and Short Stability Reports.
• Distribute shipments to Innovation teams as required.
• Process specimens across temperature conditions and route appropriately.
• Coordinate with processing, automated systems, or laboratories to ensure timely delivery.
• Enter patient demographics and accession specimens using ARUP applications.
• Order tests as indicated on requisitions and process orders.
• Label and de-identify specimens and requisitions.
• Verify specimen identifiers and paperwork for accuracy and discrepancies.
