Job summary

Harris Health System, Inc. seeks a Laboratory Technician to correctly receive, accession, process, and assure proper identification of specimens. You will evaluate specimen integrity and notify appropriate personnel of unacceptable specimens, and perform laboratory order entry with ID assignments.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, with preferred one year of healthcare experience and familiarity with CRT, medical terminology, and PC systems. This role is based in Houston, TX.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED is required.
• 1 year healthcare experience is desired but not required.
• CRT, medical terminology, and PC skills are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receives, accession, and processes specimens accurately.
• Evaluates specimen integrity and notifies appropriate staff of unacceptable specimens.

JOB SUMMARY

Correctly receives, accessions, processes, and assures proper identification of specimens. Evaluates specimen integrity and notifies appropriate personnel of unacceptable specimens. Performs laboratory order entry and specimen receiving functions. Assigns specific computer generated identification numbers, checks for accuracy and records all items processed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Education/Specialized Training/Licensure: H.S. Diploma or GED
• Work Experience: 1 year healthcare experience desired, but not required
