Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a detail-oriented Specimen Processor in Torrance, CA to handle incoming specimens, document results, and ensure sample integrity for clinical research and patient care. Responsibilities include receipt, processing, and archiving of specimens, while maintaining temperature controls and data accuracy in internal systems.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Minimum 1 year of applicable work experience
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Reliable attendance and punctuality
• Ability to follow detailed procedures and instructions
• Strong organizational and documentation skills
• Comfortable using Microsoft Excel and Word
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities

Responsibilities

• Receive and process specimen shipments from multiple couriers
• Open, inspect, and properly handle incoming specimen shipments
• Maintain specimen integrity and temperature requirements during processing
• Scan shipments and update specimen information within internal databases
• Sort and route specimens according to established procedures
• Perform quality control checks on specimens, requisitions, and materials
• Enter patient demographics and administrative information accurately
• Image and archive requisition documents for laboratory records
• Process specimen kits and perform manual aliquoting when required
• Operate, maintain, and clean laboratory equipment and automation systems
• Identify and resolve shipment discrepancies or misrouted specimens
• Follow all SOPs, quality standards, and laboratory safety procedures
