Job summary

University Health Truman Medical Center is hiring a Specimen Processing/Laboratory Information Specialist for the General Lab. The role includes logging, processing, and delivering specimens, with phlebotomy on outpatients in the first shift, within a 6:30 AM–7:00 PM schedule and a 36-hour work week.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, strong communication skills, and ability to work with patients of all ages, plus Windows-based computer proficiency and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Verbal communication to answer phones, greet patients, respond to requests.
• Ability to work with patients of all ages.
• Computer aptitude in a Windows environment.
• Good organizational skills.
• Ability to walk long distances while pushing a cart.
• File alphabetically or numerically.
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, and rotate shifts if needed.

Responsibilities

• Log in and process specimens, file, and answer telephone calls.
• Process specimens for reference labs and deliver specimens.
• Perform phlebotomy on outpatients (first shift only).
• Work under close supervision with directional tasks and priorities.
