Job summary

University Health Truman Medical Center is seeking a Specimen Processor in the General Lab to log in and process specimens, prepare them for reference labs, and manage associated clerical duties.

The role includes charting, answering phones, and delivering specimens, with phlebotomy duties for outpatients on the first shift. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and basic computer skills. Weekend/holiday rotation may be required.

Qualifications

• Verbal communication skills to answer phone, greet patients, and respond to information requests.
• Written communication skills to take messages and document information.
• Basic computer aptitude to use Windows and keyboard.

Responsibilities

• Logs in specimens and tracks them through processing.
• Prepares specimens for reference labs and routes to appropriate departments.
• Maintains charts and files and handles telephone inquiries.
• Picks up and delivers specimens within the facility.
• Performs phlebotomy on outpatients (first shift only).
