Job summary

Rochester Regional Health is seeking a Specimen Management Tech in Rochester, NY. The role supports specimen processing by entering orders, labeling samples, and preparing them for testing in the hospital, pathology, and lab systems.

Responsibilities include handling imaging, requisitions, and communication with physicians. On-call coverage occurs periodically; 40-hour weeks with 8-hour shifts from 4:30 PM to 1:00 AM.

Qualifications

• Must possess the ability to understand written instructions and transmit information accurately.
• Data entry and computer skills.
• For Medical Technology Student Intern:Enrollment in a Program of Medical Technology.

Responsibilities

• Enter data and label laboratory samples accurately and timely.
• Prepare laboratory samples for testing.
• Operate imaging system as needed and retrieve requisitions.
• Maintain knowledge of HIS and LIS systems and navigate common operating systems.
• May provide limited training as requested.
• Communicate with physicians regarding test requirements and results.
• Transport specimens as needed and prepare paperwork for transfers.
