Job summary

Rochester Regional Health in Rochester, NY, seeks a Lead Specimen Management Tech for the Specimen Processing department at Rochester Regional Elmgrove. Evening/night shift, 6:00p–2:30a, with 40 hours weekly.

The role oversees daily operations, staffing, education and competency, ensuring decisions align with department, hospital and regulatory guidelines, and includes morgue-related coordination as needed.

Qualifications

• 3-5 yrs of relevant laboratory experience with increasing responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Has a thorough understanding of every area of the division.
• Fill in for staffing slots or workflow issues, including HIS and LIS systems, even off-site locations.
• Mentor, coach and coordinate with Supervisors/Manager/Director to ensure timely workflow and staffing standards.
• Create staff schedules and manage changes to cover day-to-day operations.
• Assist in approving vacation time and adjusting timecards.
• Orient, train and perform performance evaluations for staff.
• Oversee morgue-related processes and autopsy coordination with nursing units and affiliates.
• Demonstrate commitment to RRH Standards of Behavior and quality goals.
