Job summary

TriCore Reference Laboratories in Albuquerque is seeking a Clinical Lab Assistant who can work independently with minimal supervision. The role involves multiple modalities, on-site schedule Mon-Fri 1500-1900, and potential holiday coverage.

Compensation is based on modalities performed and experience, with a paid apprenticeship path for newcomers. Minimum education is a high school diploma; ASCP or equivalent certification is preferred, along with completion of a CLA program.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• PBT (ASCP) or equivalent certification preferred.
• Completion of a Clinical Lab Assistant or comparable program preferred.
• Basic PC skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties in a professional and courteous manner.
• Maintains supplies and inventory necessary to perform departmental functions.
• Observe students and/or new staff as needed.
• Exhibit basic problem solving skills to ensure service levels.
• Responsible for hospital communication responsibilities as assigned, including on-call responsibilities by location.
• Demonstrates effective telephone and verbal communication skills.
• Actively demonstrates professional judgment when dealing with clients, patients and co-workers.
• Perform clerical functions as needed by the department, including documentation of call-ins in the absence of a supervisor.
• Maintain confidentiality of position and information.
• Participate in and maintain coverage levels for on call and holidays/evenings/weekends as needed.
• Basic PC skills.
