Actalent in Saint Paul, MN is hiring a Specimen Processor to join a fast-paced, production-oriented lab environment. You will receive and log samples from couriers, prepare specimens for testing, and manage storage and disposal. The role offers on-site work with potential full-time opportunities after a successful contract period.

Responsibilities include data entry across systems, label creation, and ensuring accuracy of sample names and requisitions, with daily handling of 5,000–11,000 samples.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, with science coursework preferred.
• Desire to advance within the lab.
• Intermediate computer, typing, and 10-key skills.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Capacity to work in a fast-paced production environment to meet turnaround times.

• Meet couriers to receive samples from across the USA and internationally, initiating the tracking process.
• Verify the arrival of all samples, inspect for damage, and manage packaging disposal.
• Utilize multiple computer software systems, remembering specific applications for different samples.
• Ensure sample names match requisitions.
• Handle various types of samples, primarily urine, but also blood, serum, plasma, and body fluids.
• Create and apply labels to samples after data entry into systems.
• Occasionally aliquot samples, centrifuge, or freeze them for stabilization as needed.
• Contribute to processing 5,000-11,000 samples daily.
• Manage workflow for sample maintenance in walk-in refrigerators and freezers after 3, 6, and 12 months.

Work Environment

Work in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment as a specimen accessioner, a vital part of medical laboratory science. The role includes on-the-job training, providing the medical community with accurate test results. With 5,000-11,000 samples processed daily, you'll be part of an industry leader in the medical laboratory sector. The position offers career growth opportunities, including tuition reimbursement for qualifying degrees in partnership with Arizona State University. The role is on the 1st shift, Tuesday through Saturday, with potential for full-time employment after a successful contract period.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Saint Paul, MN.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.53 - $19.53/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
