The Accessioning Clerk position, reporting to the Accessioning Supervisor, performs daily accessioning activities including receiving specimens, logging, and scanning requisitions into the scan system.

The role emphasizes data accuracy, adherence to privacy and security policies, and collaboration with the laboratory team to ensure timely processing and proper documentation.

On-site work with standard safety procedures; prior data entry experience preferred; high school diploma required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
• One to two years of prior job-related experience is preferred.

Responsabilités

• Receives and clocks in specimens from couriers; verifies courier logs match received items.
• Prioritizes and sorts specimens for accessioning and processing.
• Performs data entry of patient demographics, clinical information, specimen source, and test orders into computer systems.
• Checks orders for medical necessity and documents any missing information or documentation.
• Scans requisitions and related paperwork into the scan system and shreds documents as needed.
• Reviews requisitions against data entry for accuracy and corrects errors.
• Answers departmental phone calls and assists clients as needed.
• Adheres to laboratory safety procedures and Corporate Privacy and Security policies.
