Job description

Labcorp Specialty Testing team has an exciting career opportunity for a Customer Service Support Representative. This fast-paced work-from-home position is part of a dedicated team responsible for providing assistance to patients and clients to better understand health insurance coverage, cost and payment options and to answer billing questions over the phone.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Ability to work in a high call volume environment, averaging ~75 calls per day from patients, doctor’s offices and/or private insurance carriers
  2. Ability to research and communicate complex information in a clear/concise manner
  3. Ability to navigate and work in multiple systems/websites simultaneously.
  4. Provide assistance to prospective clients and patients, regarding any questions or inquiries related to insurance coverage, financial responsibilities, and/or billing (telephone interactions)
  5. Receive and process credit card payments over the phone, adhering to PCI compliance protocols
  6. Initiate payment plans for patients for outstanding balances
  7. Document telephone conversations clearly and accurately in the respective systems
  8. Update and maintain records in the billing system, including the review of accounts, payment collections and case notes
  9. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines/regulations
  10. Assist with other duties as assigned

License/Certification/Education:

Recommended:

  1. High school diploma required
  2. Associate degree or higher is a plus
  3. 1-3 years of applicable experience

Competencies:

  1. Healthcare experience needed
  2. Knowledge of professional medical billing and collection practices preferred
  3. Ability to interpret and apply understanding of insurance explanation of benefits (EOB)
  4. Working knowledge of prior authorization, a plus
  5. Experience with Laboratory Billing and Laboratory Information System (LIS) desired
  6. XIFIN experience preferred
  7. Medicare/Medicaid billing experience preferred
  8. Knowledge of CPT and ICD10 codes highly preferred
  9. Previous customer service experience handling high call volume preferred
  10. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  11. Able to follow established program protocols and procedures
  12. Computer proficiency - MS Windows, MS Office, and database experience
  13. Must be organized and detail-oriented
  14. Ability to review large amounts of data for accuracy
  15. Understanding of Women’s Health & Genetics Moms Helping Moms of Tomorrow processes, a plus
  16. Bilingual in English and Spanish highly desirable

Physical Requirements:

  1. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

Remote Technical Requirements:

  1. Internet speed of at least 50 megabytes per second. No satellite internet
  2. Ability to connect equipment to router/modem with Ethernet cord
  3. Equipment cannot be connected through Wi-Fi

Ability to work the following schedule: Monday-Friday

7:30am - 4:00pm PST / 8:30am-5:00pm MTN/ 9:30-6:00pm CST/ 10:30am – 7:00pm EST

Pay Range: $15.50-$19.00 or State/Local minimum wage, if higher.

All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.

Benefits: Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Casual, PRN & Part Time employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours are eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan only.
