Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is seeking a scheduling specialist to manage inbound and outbound communications for appointment scheduling across departments. You will coordinate complex scheduling for physicians and self-referrals, verify patient demographics and insurance, and enter data in scheduling systems with attention to authorizations and policies.
Minimum 2 years in patient scheduling within a healthcare setting is required; Epic Cadence experience is preferred.
Job Description Receives inbound communications (e.g., calls, emails, faxes, orders) from patients and physicians requesting scheduling services with Children's department. Coordinates complex appointment scheduling of various medical appointments and procedures across the Children’s system. Maintains patient demographic and insurance pre-registration information in appropriate department scheduling system. Makes outbound calls for appointment reminders, recalls, and other outbound call activity.
Experience 2 years of experience in patient scheduling or access in a healthcare setting
Preferred Qualifications 2 years of experience in provider and/or multispecialty scheduling in a clinical setting
Experience in Epic Cadence
Education High school diploma or equivalent
Certification Summary No professional certifications required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Excellent verbal and written communication skills Professional telephone etiquette Interviewing and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families, and members of the healthcare team Ability to work with diverse people and deal effectively with disgruntled callers Consistent high-quality performance related to scheduling and call handling (internal candidates) Excellent organizational skills
