Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a field-based sales professional to execute brand strategies, manage territory accounts, and build strong customer relationships. You will drive sales performance, meet KPIs, and align marketing objectives while delivering insightful market intelligence to cross-functional teams.

The role requires adapting selling approaches to customer styles, strong communication, and the ability to navigate a matrix organization in compliance with regulations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent industry experience.
  • 5+ years of sales experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
  • 3+ years of pharmaceutical/health/science industry experience preferred.
  • English proficiency verbally and in writing.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass drug screening.
  • Ability to operate in a matrix environment and comply with regulations.
  • HCIR credentialing is required or eligible.

Responsibilities

  • Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field.
  • Manage assigned territory and targeted accounts.
  • Build customer relationships and solve customer needs to maximize sales performance.
  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives.
  • Create pre-call plans and conduct post-call evaluations.
  • Handle objections and secure calls to action during sales calls.
  • Develop and execute call plans to optimize customer coverage and sales opportunities.
  • Build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease, products, clinical information, and sales practices.
  • Share market intelligence with field, brand, and sales teams.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with healthcare providers.
  • Identify, develop, and maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates.
  • Operate within AbbVie’s business code of conduct, policies, and applicable laws and regulations.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred, or equivalent industry experience required
  • At least five years of experience required in lieu of a bachelor’s degree
  • Three or more years of pharmaceutical, health, or science industry experience preferred
  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Ability to adapt selling approaches to customer styles and behaviors
  • Ability to develop sales strategies from customer insights
  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment
  • Innovative problem-solving and strategic and critical thinking capabilities
  • In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge
  • Strong business acumen and proficiency with business tools
  • Leadership and peer coaching experience
  • Documented success in leadership or support roles of increasing responsibility
  • Commercial pharmaceutical industry experience preferred
  • English proficiency verbally and in writing
  • Must satisfy applicable HCIR credentialing requirements and be in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test
  • Must meet safe driving requirements
  • Ability to drive a personal or company vehicle or powered material-handling equipment
