Job Title: Specialty Recon Assembly Technician

Location: Salem, Virginia

Shift: 1st

Starting Compensation Range: $25.76 - $33.48 per hour

The Specialty Recon Assembly Technician is responsible for performing repairs, reconditioning and servicing heavy equipment and components, including evaluating, diagnosing and repairing radiators, small engines, large engines, hydraulic systems and Caterpillar and non-Caterpillar transmissions, in a shop environment.

Requirements for the Specialty Recon Assembly Technician position include:

• Must possess the ability to logically and effectively diagnose failures, including failure analysis
• Must be familiar with standard soldering concepts, practices, and procedures
• Must have good trouble shooting skills
• Have strong mechanical aptitude
• Must be able to complete repairs with little to no supervision
• Must be able to occasionally operate heavy machinery
• Must be able to work shifts as needed, including days, nights, and/or weekends to meet customer needs
• Must be able to positively interact with supervisor and to understand problems and concerns relating to a repair
• Requires good communication skills
• Must be able to perform job in sometimes stressful situations due to circumstances and/or emergencies
• Must be able to perform in situations requiring speed and deadlines
• Must be self-directed, organized and be able to interact with coworkers and train new mechanics
• Must be able to work as an integral part of a team

Seeking Candidates with:

• Experience with Caterpillar or related equipment industry experience, military equipment experience or completion of a diesel school program
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, and servicing heavy equipment components
• Experience with Caterpillar equipment preferred
• High school diploma or GED required

Physical Requirements:

• Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear
• Frequently required to sit
• Regularly lift and /or move up to 70 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus
