Job summary

Sentara Health seeks a Pharmacy Technician for Proprium Specialty Pharmacy in Chesapeake, VA, 40 hours weekly, day shift (8AM-5PM) with occasional Saturdays. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is offered for qualified candidates.

The role requires a Virginia Pharmacy Tech license, high school diploma, and pharmacy experience; CPhT is preferred. Full-time employment with comprehensive benefits is provided.

Qualifications

• Virginia Pharmacy Tech License required.
• CPhT License preferred (NHA or PTCB).
• 1 year pharmacy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs technician responsibilities in specialized areas under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
• Demonstrates advanced technical skills and ownership of the work area.
• Ability to work independently in defined specialized areas of pharmacy practice.
• Assists in training new employees.
• Fills and delivers medications under supervision as required by specialty position.
• Ensures adequate supplies for continuous patient care.
• Triages and escalates any questions outside the technician's scope of practice.

Pharmacy Technician at our Proprium Specialty Pharmacy in Chesapeake, VA. $5,000 Sign on Bonus for Qualified Candidates!

Contract and Working Hours

Full Time (40 hours/week). Day Shift (8AM-5PM). Occasional Saturdays.

Compensation

The base pay range for full-time employment is $23.50 - $36.36 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.

Job Responsibilities

• Performs the technician responsibilities in specialized areas of pharmacy practice under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner.
• Demonstrates advanced technical skills and ownership of the work area.
• Demonstrates the ability to competently work independently in defined specialized areas of pharmacy practice.
• Training in an advanced Specialist Pharmacy Technician job functions.
• Assumes local and/or system responsibility for assigned tasks related to advanced specialist job positions.
• Participates in the training of new employees.
• Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner as required by specialty position.
• Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care.
• Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed.
• Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information.
• Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements.
• Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately.
• In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
• A pharmacy technician license is required in the state of practice.

Education and Qualification

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
• Virginia Pharmacy Tech License (Required)
• CPhT License (Received through the NHA or PTCB) (Preferred)
• 1 Year Pharmacy Experience (Preferred)
