Job summary

St. Matthews Pharmacy is seeking a Specialty Pharmacy Logistics Technician to support shipping, logistics, and inventory for the specialty team. You will prepare, pack, and ship prescription orders, verify addresses, and maintain accurate shipment records in a fast-paced environment.

Role requires Kentucky Pharmacy Technician registration or ability to obtain; previous pharmacy or fulfillment experience is preferred. This full-time, onsite position offers competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Previous pharmacy, specialty pharmacy, fulfillment, shipping, logistics, warehouse, or inventory experience preferred.
• Kentucky Pharmacy Technician registration required prior to independently performing the duties of the position. Candidates who are not currently registered must meet all registration requirements within the timeframe established by the Company.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, package, coordinate, and ship prescription orders to clients and provider practices in accordance with procedures, carrier requirements, and accreditation standards.
• Proactively verify delivery address accuracy and required shipment information prior to release.
• Select appropriate packaging and shipping methods based on product handling requirements, including cold storage and controlled room temperature products.
• Complete delivery documentation and maintain accurate, traceable shipment records.
• Monitor shipment status and investigate delayed, missing, returned, damaged, or discrepant shipments.
• Coordinate resolution of shipping exceptions with clients, provider practices, carriers, and internal staff.
• Receive inventory and supplies; update perpetual inventory counts.
• Maintain lot number tracking and support product recall activities.

We are seeking a talented logistics tech to join our team at St Matthews Pharmacy.The Specialty Pharmacy Logistics Technician provides shipping, logistics, and inventory support to the Specialty Pharmacy Team. This position is primarily responsible for the accurate and timely preparation, packaging, shipping, tracking, and reconciliation of prescription orders, including investigating shipping discrepancies, maintaining shipping and inventory data, and communicating with clients, provider practices, shipping carriers, and internal pharmacy staff regarding shipment-related matters. While pharmacy technician registration is required for the position, this role is primarily focused on specialty pharmacy logistics and fulfillment rather than direct patient interaction. The position works within the pharmacy environment and supports compliance with applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements.

The Specialty Pharmacy Logistics Technician reports to the Supervisor of Logistics.

Essential Functions:

• Prepare, package, coordinate, and ship prescription orders to clients and provider practices in accordance with pharmacy procedures, carrier requirements, and applicable accreditation standards.
• Proactively verify delivery address accuracy and required shipment information prior to release.
• Select appropriate packaging and shipping methods based on product handling requirements, including cold storage and controlled room temperature products.
• Complete delivery documentation and maintain accurate, traceable, and auditable shipment and delivery records.
• Monitor shipment status and investigate delayed, missing, returned, damaged, or otherwise discrepant shipments.
• Coordinate resolution of shipping exceptions with clients, provider practices, shipping carriers, and internal pharmacy staff, as appropriate.
• Receive inventory and supplies; update perpetual inventory counts in accordance with policy.
• Monitor inventory levels and packaging/shipping supplies to support timely fulfillment and communicate replenishment needs.
• Maintain lot number tracking and support product recall activities.
• Assist with inventory reconciliation and investigation of inventory or shipping discrepancies.
• Collect, maintain, and assist in preparing documentation for accreditation, regulatory, payer, and internal audits.
• Know regulatory requirements and accreditation standards applicable to assigned duties and perform work in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Provide professional and responsive service to clients regarding shipping, delivery, and logistics-related questions or concerns.
• Communicate with clients and provider practices regarding shipment status, delivery coordination, and routine logistics matters.
• Triage questions outside the scope of the position to the appropriate pharmacy team member.
• Perform pharmacy technician functions necessary to support fulfillment operations within the individual's authorized scope and under pharmacist supervision.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and compliance of shipping, storage, and work areas and equipment.
• Record client concerns or complaints and forward them to the appropriate supervisor for action.
• Report product incidents in accordance with company policy.
• Participate in surveys or inspections conducted by authorized agencies as applicable to the role.
• Participate in the company's Performance Improvement program, in-service education, and other training as requested.
• Report misconduct, suspicious, or unethical activities to the Compliance Officer.
• Represent the company in a professional and courteous manner in all interactions with clients, provider practices, carriers, and colleagues.
• Maintain privacy and confidentiality in accordance with company policy and applicable requirements.

The following functions require the professional judgment of a pharmacist and may not be performed by a company technician:

• Acceptance of new verbal prescriptions.
• Verification of filled prescriptions.
• Entry of orders into the computer system without verification by a pharmacist.

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Previous pharmacy, specialty pharmacy, fulfillment, shipping, logistics, warehouse, or inventory experience preferred.
• Kentucky Pharmacy Technician registration required prior to independently performing the duties of the position. Candidates who are not currently registered must meet all registration requirements within the timeframe established by the Company.

Physical Requirements:

• Moderate physical effort; routinely lift/carry up to 25 lbs., with heavier weights requiring assistance.
• May occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Sitting and standing for extended periods; frequent movement within shipping, storage, and pharmacy work areas.
• Repetitive motions and/or prolonged computer use.
• Ability to work at a fast pace while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
