Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Specialty Account Coordinator I to handle insurance verification, benefit checks and denials management while supporting pharmacy operations. You will collaborate with physicians, staff and insurers to ensure accurate billing and timely patient assistance program enrollment.

The role requires a solid background in pharmacy-related processes, a current State Technician license, and a CPTB certification within six months of starting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years related experience including 1 year of relevant pharmacy experience.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) required within six months from start.
• Current State Technician license in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient insurance and benefits including verification, rejection and denials management and collections.
• Assist patients in enrolling in drug copay cards and/or foundations and monitor services rendered.
• Bill the applicable funds for assistance programs and ensure compliance with funding guidelines.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, staff, patients and insurance companies; serve as a resource for the team.

TheSpecialty Account Coordinator Iis responsible for multiple facets of patient account coordinationincluding insurance/benefit verification, rejection and denials management and collections. The Specialty Account Coordinator is also responsible for knowing which assistance programs, such as drug copay cards and/or foundations, patients may qualify for, assisting patients in enrolling in thoseprograms, monitoring services rendered and billing the assistance programs for the applicablefunds. This position requires a thorough understanding of all available programs, funding guidelines, claims procedures and insurance company regulations, as well as oncology coding and billing. This position monitors insurance company regulations for changes in pre-certification, documentation, medical necessity criteria, policy requirements and/or claims submission requirements. This position requires accuracy, attention to detail and the ability to communicate well with physicians, staff, patients, and insurance companies. The Specialty Account Coordinator I serves as a resource for other staff and patients. This position serves as a Senior Pharmacy Technician as needed. Performs duties in a manner consistent with Mercy Service Standards.

Position Details:

Education: Some college hours in Business, Finance and/or Accounting related courses preferred.

Licensure: Current State Technician license in good standing

Experience: A minimum of 3 years related experience required including 1 year of relevant pharmacy experience.

Certification/Registration: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) is required within six months from start.
