Job summary

UF Health seeks a Specialty Pharmacist to deliver comprehensive clinical pharmacy services for high-cost specialty medications. You will collaborate with physicians and the care team to optimize therapy, support access, and ensure safe, cost-effective use across complex diseases.

The role emphasizes ongoing patient monitoring, adherence support, and education, while coordinating with payers and pharmacies to resolve barriers to therapy and improve outcomes.

Qualifications

• Completion of PharmD degree from ACPE-accredited school.
• PGY2 residency (preferred) or equivalent experience.
• Board certification preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to interact effectively with medical, nursing, and pharmacy staff, residents, and students.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive medication management for specialty medications across complex diseases.
• Assess appropriateness of therapy: indication, dosing, drug interactions, monitoring and safety.
• Monitor therapy and follow up to optimize outcomes and adherence.
• Collaborate with physicians and care team on therapy optimization and problems.
• Educate patients about specialty medications, administration, outcomes, side effects and adherence.
• Identify and resolve prior authorizations and financial barriers to therapy.
• Coordinate with providers, payers, specialty pharmacies, manufacturers to initiate/continue therapy.
• Support appropriate utilization and financial stewardship of high-cost meds.
• Monitor labs and clinical outcomes to assess effectiveness and safety.
• Support specialty pharmacy accreditation and regulatory requirements.
• Develop clinical protocols and treatment pathways for specialty meds.
