Job summary

UF Health in Gainesville seeks a Specialty Pharmacist to provide comprehensive clinical pharmacy services for high-cost specialty medications. You will collaborate with physicians and the care team to optimize therapy, manage access barriers, and ensure safe, cost-effective use of therapies.

Responsibilities include medication management, patient education, ongoing monitoring, and coordination with payers and manufacturers to initiate and sustain therapy.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy.
• PharmD or equivalent education and hospital or ambulatory experience as required.
• PGY2 residency; PGY2 training preferred.
• Two to four years of relevant experience may substitute for residency.
• Board certification preferred; strong communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive medication management for specialty therapies.
• Assess indications, dosing, interactions, monitoring and safety.
• Monitor patients and follow-up to optimize therapy and adherence.
• Collaborate with physicians and care team on therapy optimization.
• Educate patients on administration, outcomes, and adverse effects.
• Resolve prior authorizations and financial barriers to therapy.
• Coordinate with payers, pharmacies, and manufacturers to initiate therapy.
• Promote cost-conscious use of high-cost medications.
• Monitor lab results and outcomes to evaluate effectiveness and safety.
• Support accreditation, quality improvement, and regulatory requirements.
• Develop clinical protocols and standardized management processes.
