Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking a Specialty Gas Engineer to oversee code compliance and safety for new and retrofit facilities, ensuring that gas systems meet all regulatory standards. The role leads design teams, coordinates with general contractors, and oversees handover and closeout processes to customers and SAS owner groups.

You will interface with site operations, EHST, and subcontractors to review gas piping, equipment, and materials, manage submittals, and mitigate project risk

Position Summary

The Specialty Gas Engineer is responsible for code compliance and safety for new construction, retrofit construction, and the evaluation of existing facilities as they pertain to Fab and Fab support sustaining operations. This role manages design teams during facility construction and tool hookup design to ensure the review and approval of specialty gas system connections and materials of construction. The engineer manages construction general contractor activities for new and retrofit projects and oversees the comprehensive equipment and system handover plan to the customer and project closeout.

Role and Responsibilities

Here’s What You’ll Be Responsible For:

• Leadstrategicfabandsupportprojectplanningforspecialtygassystems,includingthereviewandapprovalofall“first-of-the-kind”processtoolgasrequirementsandidentifyingcriticalpathsolutionsforcodeandregulatoryconcerns.
• Develop,review,andapproveSASsiteconstructionandtoolhookupspecificationsrelatedtogaspiping,equipment,andassociateddistributionroomsandbuildings.
• Providetechnicalguidancetocontracteddesignteamsforthereviewandapprovalofgasconnectionsandmaterialsofconstruction.
• InterfacewithsiteoperationsandEHSteamstoauditexistingpiping,equipment,andsecondarycontainmenttoensuretheymeetapplicablecodesandstandards.
• ServeastheprimarytechnicalinterfacebetweentheConstructionGeneralContractor,Subcontractors,ConsultantDesignTeams,andvariousSASOwnerorganizations.
• Proactivelysupportandrespondtosubmittals,RFIs,NCRs,SWNs,andotherrelatedrequestspertainingtoSpecialtyGassystemconstruction.
• Identify,track,manage,resolve,andcommunicateprojectissuesduringconstruction,includingdocumentingSiteObservationReportsandmanagingconstructionpunchliststoresolution.
• Proactivelyidentifyandmitigateprojectriskpointsregardingsafetyandcodecompliance.
• Performregularfieldobservationinspectionstoverifyexistingconditionsofpreviouslyinstalledductwork,piping,andequipmenttoensuresafetyandcodestandardsaremaintained.
• Demonstratestrongleadershipskillstointerfacewith
