Job summary

Glen Raven Norlina Plant is seeking a Specialty Fiber Operator to patrol, operate, and maintain carding, drawing and roving. The role supports high production, quality, safety and teamwork to prepare fiber for spinning.

Ideal candidates have prior textile experience, are able to lift 50 lbs, stand or walk long shifts, and read and follow instructions. Training will be provided to update skills and ensure safe operations within a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Reading, writing, and ability to follow instructions.
• Ability to stand or walk for long periods and lift 50 lbs or more.
• Willingness to be trained/updated on skills.

Responsibilities

• Follow company policies and safe work practices to prevent injuries.
• Report unsafe conditions or injuries to supervisor.
• Walk the job to identify chok(es), breakdowns or flags and make repairs as needed.
• Check machinery for quality or production problems.
• Make yarn and blend changes.
• Help clean spindles and size bobbins on spinning frames.
• Change travelers when needed; fix flags and replace belts.
• Replace bobbin hangers as required.

Job description

Glen Raven Norlina Plant is recruiting for a Specialty Fiber Operator which will patrol, operate and maintain carding, drawing and roving. This position adds value to Glen Raven by their commitment to achieve the highest level of production, quality and safety as well as teamwork by ensuring that the process runs efficiently in order to prepare the fiber for the spinning machine.

Responsibilities:

• Follow company policies, safe work practices, prevent injury to yourself and other associates
• Report any unsafe work condition or any work related injury to your supervisor immediately
• Walk job - look for chokes, breakdowns or flags. Make repairs as needed
• Check all machinery for quality or production problems
• Make yarn and blend changes
• Help clean spindles
• Help size bobbins on spinning frames
• Change travelers when needed
• Fix flags when needed/maintenance
• Replace belts as needed
• Replace bobbin hangers

Experience and Education:

• Previous experience in a textile manufacturer preferred
• High School Diploma Preferred
• Ability to read, write and follow instructions
• Ability to work alone or on a team as required
• Willingness to be trained/updated on skills
• Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time
• Ability to bend, stoop, stretch, push and pull
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more
• Ability to climb and work in heights
• Take weight samples and assist in color changes and creel changes
