GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE
The Specialty Beauty Advisor – Clinique (SBA – Clinique) is responsible for maximizing sales in the Clinique brand (including color cosmetics, skincare, and fragrance) by engaging guests to determine their needs, assisting in selection and purchase, and maintaining store standards, including cleanliness and replenishment. They represent the image, products, and culture of Ulta Beauty and Clinique, supporting the Experience Manager through performance, people, and process focus. This role requires a passion for beauty, exceptional guest service, and the ability to learn and communicate product knowledge.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The SBA - Clinique demonstrates Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values through:
Performance
- Meeting or exceeding Clinique sales and clientele goals, contributing to store goals related to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, omni-channel, and retail shrink.
- Providing exceptional guest service, including greeting, engaging, personalizing service, offering samples, and recommending products/services.
- Performing makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations.
- Booking and supporting in-store services and events to deliver an outstanding guest experience and meet sales targets.
- Building strong customer relationships and maintaining active contact with a growing customer base.
- Informing guests of current promotions, events, and services.
- Staying informed about new and existing products and services, understanding their ingredients and benefits.
- Maintaining regular attendance.
People
- Fostering an inclusive environment supporting teammates and guests.
- Promoting the guest loyalty program, including credit and app benefits.
- Maintaining relationships with Clinique brand partners through training and events.
- Collaborating with store team to grow the business.
- Participating in ongoing training for professional development and sales performance.
Process
- Adhering to Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards.
- Following dress code and brand assets guidelines.
- Keeping work area replenished, signed, faced, and testers maintained hygienically.
- Ensuring store operational standards, including merchandise resets, inventory, cleanliness, and safety.
- Executing operational tasks as directed.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- High school diploma preferred.
- Cosmetology or demonstrator license required where mandated by law.
Experience
- Cosmetics artistry experience preferred.
Skills
- Strong competency in sales, products, and service.
- Ability to build and maintain customer relationships.
- Ability to work independently and in teams.
- Proactive handling of guest concerns and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Participation in brand-sponsored training.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Frequent mobility, standing, bending, reaching, and twisting.
- Lifting/moving up to 10 lbs.
- Object manipulation during shift.
