Job summary

Lubbock Independent School District seeks an ECI DEBT Speech/Language Pathologist Assistant to support therapy services under supervision. The assistant will help implement speech-language goals for eligible children, coordinate with families, and assist the supervising SLP in service delivery.

Responsibilities include documentation, collaboration with teachers, and following guidance for individual treatment plans within a trans-disciplinary team setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required for eligibility.
• Current Texas Licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant required.
• Pediatric population experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follows recommendations from supervising Speech Language Pathologist for children with identified communication delays and their families to be shared with parents and/or primary caregivers, appropriate staff and related personnel.

Primary Purpose

Responsible for assisting in the provision of speech therapy to children referred to the ECI DEBT Program for services and as designed and supervised by the supervising SLP.

Qualifications

Education/Certification: Bachelor's degree

Current Texas Licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant Experience with Pediatric Population Preferred

Major Responsibilities And Duties

• Follows written recommendations from supervising Speech Language Pathologist for children with identified communication delays and their families to be shared with parents and/or primary caregivers, appropriate staff and related personnel.


• Collaborates on an ongoing basis with teachers/service coordinators, parents and other team members regarding the language development of children identified as communication delayed for the purpose of addressing therapeutic needs.


• Maintains and submits all required documentation, i.e. therapy reports/notes, monthly service reports, etc.

• Must be able to work within a modified trans disciplinary team approach/setting.


• Must demonstrate a cordial, happy, supportive flexible attitude when communicating and working with parents, community personnel, and staff.


• Must be open to direction and supervision as needed.


• Must be able to work in variable environments related to temperature, humidity, degrees of cleanliness and other uncontrollable environmental conditions.


• carrying (up to 50 lbs.), talking, walking, bending, kneeling, floor-sitting, pulling, pushing, sitting, stooping, standing, climbing, reaching and grasping and must be able to move with agility needed to carry out job duties.


• Must have the ability to learn and implement early intervention strategies and techniques.


• Must be able to use good judgment and maintain emotional control and practice staff safety precautions when under stress.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of children (0-3) who are developmentally delayed.


• Knowledge of normal child growth and development. and experience in working with parent/families.


• Understanding of the IFSP process.


• Sensitive and strong communication skills both written and verbal, i.e., vocabulary, grammar, spelling, etc.


• Ability to work harmoniously in team settings and with other staff.


• Knowledge of safety policies.
