Job summary

Young World Physical Education is seeking a Specialist, School Nutrition Systems to service, maintain, and train staff on the POS system in school cafeterias. The role analyzes workstation, network, server, and printer issues and coordinates with the technology department for policy compliance.

The candidate will install and test nutrition software, manage vendor support, and develop tools for program evaluation while ensuring secure, efficient operation across multiple sites.

Qualifications

  • Ability to manage multiple projects with high accuracy.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and vehicle access for site travel.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulated food service programs.
  • Exceptional customer service and strong organizational skills.
  • Experience with integration of off‑the‑shelf and third‑party applications.

Responsibilities

  • Provides day‑to‑day support for nutrition software applications.
  • Manages, monitors, and closes technology work order tickets.
  • Troubleshoots hardware/software in the school nutrition office and cafeterias.
  • Performs nutrition software installation, testing, and QA.
  • Manages vendor support for equipment replacements and installation projects.
  • Creates tools for program evaluation.
  • Trains and supports department users and school staff using the software.
  • Coordinates network policies and standards with the technology department.
  • Maintains inventory of registers, monitors, laptops, printers, and parts.
  • Uses reporting tools to support the division.
  • Establishes network connections and sets up workstations and LANs.
  • Acts as liaison between technology, vendors, and school nutrition.
  • Provides technology updates to school nutrition leadership.
  • Manages security and troubleshooting of system issues.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Specialist, School Nutrition Systems

JOB GOAL

Responsible for the servicing, maintenance, and training for the Point of Sales (POS) system in the school cafeterias and analyzing and resolving problems related to workstations, networks, servers, and printers.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provides day‑to‑day support for all nutrition software applications.
  • Manages, monitors, and closes technology work order tickets.
  • Provides technology administration, integration and troubleshooting of hardware/software located in the school nutrition office and all school cafeterias.
  • Performs nutrition software installation, testing, and quality assurance.
  • Manages vendor support for nutrition equipment replacements and installation projects.
  • Creates and defines tools for program evaluation.
  • Trains and supports department users and school‑based employees using the software.
  • Coordinates network policies, procedures and standards with the technology department.
  • Maintains and organizes inventory of registers, monitors, laptops, printers, computer parts, and technology‑based equipment.
  • Provides support to the division by using foodservice application reporting tools.
  • Establishes network connections, which may include wiring, cable preparation, setting up workstations, local area networks, file servers, hubs, and any other technical network‑attached devices.
  • Serves as liaison between the technology department, vendors, and the school nutrition department.
  • Provides technology‑related updates to school nutrition leadership.
  • Manages security, troubleshooting, and correction of any system issues.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of principles, concepts, and methods of applicable computer technology and its most effective and efficient utilization.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting various software and hardware issues and providing appropriate and timely solutions.
  • Skilled in disassembly, parts replacement, and reassembly of laptop and desktop computers, and some mobile devices.
  • Ability to perform minor network and network cable repairs.
  • Ability to classify technology parts and equipment by function, purpose, or model in an inventory setting.
  • Ability to install, maintain, and support computers and software.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and processes with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain a valid driver's license, have a satisfactory driving record, and have access to a vehicle during work hours to travel to meetings or work sites.
  • Specific knowledge of state and federal regulated food services programs.
  • Exceptional customer service and organizational skills.
  • Proven track record of work involving both custom application support and integration of off‑the‑shelf and third‑party applications.
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, orally and in writing, including electronic media.
  • Proficiency with computer programs, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Excellent time‑management skills and ability to organize, prioritize, manage and carry out duties efficiently and within established timeframes.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all stakeholders.
Education, Training & Experience
  • Associate degree in a computer‑related field.
  • 2 years IT support related work experience.

OR any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position.

Certificates, Licenses & Registrations
  • Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • 3 years of work experience as an application administrator or support person.
