Job summary

St. Elizabeth Edgewood is seeking a Specialist Registration to perform clerical duties, verify insurance, and collect patient liabilities. You will interview patients, determine financial responsibilities, and process forms for payers while maintaining confidentiality across departments.

The role requires strong customer service, data entry, and communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and EPIC, and experience with registration systems in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Qualifications

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent.
  • Proven track record of excellent customer service skills.
  • Must be able to navigate through computer systems (Microsoft Office, registration systems, EPIC).
  • Good typing skills / data entry skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Previous clerical or customer service experience.

Responsibilities

  • Interviews patients and/or family members to obtain accurate financial and demographic information to ensure prompt payment.
  • Verifies the patient’s insurance through the on-line eligibility system and determines which payer to enter in the account to minimize denials.
  • For outpatient exams, completes an estimate of charges to determine patient’s liability.
  • For all other patients, determines financial liability from the insurance response and collects any amount due from the patient.
  • Scans all requirement documents and obtains all appropriate signatures from patients.
  • Completes all forms required by governmental or commercial payers.
  • Following the AIDET principles, greets and assists patients, interacts with visitors, physician’s office staff, physicians, and other employees of the organization according to goals of the department while maintaining appropriate patient confidentiality.
