Position Summary:

Monmouth University is seeking applications for two (2) Specialist Professors in the Nursing department. These positions are for the 2025-2026 academic year and are two-year appointments with the possibility of subsequent multi-year reappointments. Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled and the search will remain open until then.

Required Degree, Licenses or Certifications:
  • Master’s degree or an earned Doctorate in nursing.
  • New Jersey professional registered nurse (RN) licensure with license required at time of employment.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of direct patient care experience as a registered nurse.
  • One (1) year of teaching experience in the classroom, utilizing active teaching strategies.
  • Documented expertise in their area(s) of teaching responsibility; a demonstrated (or potential to demonstrate) ongoing disciplinary currency and/or scholarly achievement.
  • Ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Current medical surgical nursing and/or ICU / CCU experience preferred.
  • Nursing practice as a licensed RN in New Jersey with recent direct patient care experience in an acute care setting.
  • One (1) year of experience working in a skills/sim lab, or as a clinical instructor at a college or university is a plus.
Job Duties:
  • Teach 12 credits per semester of classroom lectures with active teaching strategies, simulation-based, skills lab, clinical lead, and/or other settings.
  • Ensure that courses contain essential curricular components, have appropriate content and instructional strategies, and maintain currency.
  • Coordinate, plan, organize, and instruct courses through traditional and other formats as assigned.
  • Evaluate student performance and provide student feedback based on course learning objectives and program outcomes.
  • Incorporate formative and summative assessment strategies throughout the semester.
  • Provide and facilitate remediation based on student performance and individualized learning needs.
  • Serve as an academic advisor to assigned students.
  • Maintain in-person office hours.
  • Submit student grades and required documentation in accordance with established deadlines.
  • Maintain disciplinary currency commensurate with assigned teaching responsibilities as defined in the departmental or school scholarship statements.
  • Provide service to your department, school, University, profession, and community.
  • Comply with University policies and procedures.
  • Assist in recruitment and retention of students.
  • Participate in ongoing outcomes assessment, accreditation activities, program review, and curriculum development.
  • Work effectively and collaboratively with administrators, faculty, staff, and students.
  • Contribute to the Department scholarship agenda.
  • Provide services to the Department, School, and University as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
