Job summary

Eastern Kentucky University is seeking a Specialist, Post-Award Grants to manage contract negotiations for sponsored projects and perform post-award administrative tasks including budget development support and compliance communications. Responsibilities include processing subawards and modifications, reviewing award documents, and guiding project directors.

Responsibilities

  • Develop post-award resources and provide technical assistance to project directors and administrative personnel.
  • Process subawards, award modifications, and prior approval requests; liaise with external funding agencies for post-award issues.
  • Review external award documents to refine the budget, deliverables, and determine if EKU Legal Counsel review is needed before signing.
  • Review spending on active grant awards focusing on allocation of personnel effort and spending trends; highlight compliance concerns.
  • Assist with special projects to grow sponsored funding and improve award management support.
  • Support office functions by performing other duties as assigned.

Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Post-Award Specialist is responsible for contract negotiationfor sponsored projects and post award administrative tasksincluding budget development support, communicating pre- andpost-award compliance concerns, processing award modifications andprior approval requests, providing post-award training andtechnical assistance to project directors, and completing specialprojects as assigned to meet the needs of the University and theSponsored Programs and Research Administration office.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree required

Experience: Two years of experience withbudgeting, grant compliance, or related duties

  • 25% - Develops resources and provides post-award technicalassistance to project directors and administrative personnel,including through new award orientation meetings. -(Essential)
  • 25% - Processes subawards, award modifications, and priorapproval requests, including scope revisions, budget revisions, andno-cost extensions; functions as a liaison with external fundingagencies for post-award issues. - (Essential)
  • 20% - Reviews external award documents to refine the budget,deliverables, and recommend if the contract necessitates EKU LegalCounsel review before the award documents are signed. -(Essential)
