Mobile Crisis Outreach Specialist – Dallas, TX

Position Type: Full Time | Salary Range: $62,000 - $66,000 | Travel: 20% to 100% of the day across Dallas, Ellis, Hunt, Kaufman, Navarro, and Rockwall Counties.

Role Summary

North Texas Behavioral Health Authority (NTBHA) seeks a Mobile Crisis Outreach Specialist to provide rapid crisis assessment and intervention using in‑person and telehealth services. This role operates as part of a 24/7 crisis response team, delivering assessments, interventions, care coordination, and follow‑up for individuals in the community experiencing psychiatric crises.

Key duties include telephone triage, in‑person crisis assessment, coordination with law enforcement, courts, hospitals, diversion programs, schools, and partner agencies, and maintaining rigorous documentation in line with NTBHA policies and state/federal regulations.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or a related behavioral health field.
  • Minimum two years of experience in community mental health with individuals who have severe persistent mental illness and substance use disorders, including crisis services.
  • Experience working on MCOT or field crisis response teams.
  • Proficiency in psychosocial education, skills training, or assessments for the target population.
  • Ability to participate in treatment teams that develop and monitor care plans for severe persistent mental illness.
  • Knowledge of Texas crisis response requirements and community resources within the NTBHA service area.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean background record; capable of using company or personal vehicle for business needs.
  • Proficient in remote telehealth systems without in‑person supervision.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Bilingual ability preferred but not required.
Responsibilities & Skills
  • Conduct crisis assessments and interventions following NTBHA’s approved curriculum.
  • Perform remote triage and in‑person or face‑to‑face crisis evaluations.
  • Coordinate immediate care with local providers and respond to law enforcement or court involvement as needed.
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting to the MCOT supervisor and other stakeholders.
  • Develop rapport using motivational interviewing and other evidence‑based communication methods.
  • Maintain comprehensive records, files, and correspondence within NTBHA and partner agencies.
  • Seek clinical consultation when appropriate.
  • Adhere to NTBHA policies, state and federal regulations, and quality metrics.
  • Participate in flexible hours, including weekend and holiday shifts, to meet program demands.
