At Student Achievement Partners (SAP), we design and share evidence-based literacy and mathematics guidance and resources that center students, particularly those who are marginalized. We share these resources freely with educators across the country through our website www.learnwithSAP.org Our goal is to influence all levels of the system to ensure that:

  • states, districts, and school leaders design coherent instructional systems and policies;
  • teachers apply a vision of rigorous, equitable teaching and learning; and
  • students experience improved understanding of grade-level content and joyful, relevant learning

We work in partnership with other passionate change-makers to design tools and resources, professional learning, and other supports, grounded in research and the realities of the classroom.

How We Work

As Student Achievement Partners works in a collective leadership model, we work in project-based design teams that include internal staff and external consultants and co-designers. Working collaboratively, these teams employ an equitable design approach to identify, define, investigate, and address challenges that education stakeholders (systems, educators, and students) are experiencing in the field. To do this work effectively and impactfully, there are nine principles that guide our organization, our work, and our relationships.

About the Position:

This is a full-time, project-based (12 month contract) role within SAP’s math program team. The ideal candidate for the Math Specialist role brings specific content area expertise in K-12 mathematics, including instructional experience (as a teacher, coach, or administrator). They will contribute to design teams focused on math, and cross-content-specific projects where they will work collaboratively with project managers, directors, and specialists as well as external partners across the sector to bring innovative and impactful ideas to systems, educators, and students. They will also act in an advisory capacity to our network of educators and partner organizations. As a team member of Student Achievement Partners, the Specialist actively contributes towards organizational learning and our commitment to becoming an anti-racist and multicultural organization by leveraging equitable design practices as a core part of their work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute K-12 mathematics content expertise to design teams. High school math expertise desired
  • Leading and/or contributing to multiple, simultaneous projects that apply human-centered design principles* and product development cycles consistently and effectively;
  • Contribute instructional expertise in K-12 grade level mathematics
  • Support the Project Manager and design team to
    • Measure learning and impact for projects;
    • Develop and maintain relationships with partner organizations; and
    • Plan, collaborate, create, and deliver virtual and in-person learning opportunities
    • Collaborate and strategize with the Project Manager to inform decisions regarding capacity planning and budget
    • Lead efforts in strengthening SAP’s impact in the field by staying connected and contributing to thought leadership about current and/or emerging issues in K-12 mathematics that inform SAP’s strategic goals and impact
Qualifications

  • Belief that students’ improved understanding of grade-level content and more joyful, relevant learning experiences can be achieved through equitable design
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience required as a teacher
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience providing professional learning, coaching, curricular development and/or contributing to program design. Note that we consider experience to include stipend, PT and summer positions
  • Passion for and deep knowledge of education, mathematics, and the college- and career-ready standards required
  • Knowledge of culturally relevant pedagogical practice, as well as instructional supports for students learning English and multilingual learners
  • Ability to work in diverse project-based design teams to employ equitable design approaches
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Google Suite, and Zoom is required;
  • Strong time management, digital organization, and communication skills;

Compensation And Benefits

Student Achievement Partners offers a competitive salary commensurate with experiences. The salary range for this position is$110,000-$135,000 . Additionally, Student Achievement Partners is a remote organization that provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes unlimited vacation time, unlimited sick days, professional development funds, medical, dental, and vision insurance, FSA, and an employer-sponsored 401k retirement plan.
