Job summary

Hubbell Incorporated seeks a senior professional to drive lean manufacturing efforts and capital projects across a US facility. You will lead process improvements, equipment upgrades, and continuous improvement programs to enhance safety, quality and efficiency.

Responsibilities include coordinating with operations, quality and product engineering, designing tooling and cell layouts, and supporting plant safety and environmental efforts.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in maintenance, facilities, or continuous improvement project management.
  • OSHA 30 certification or able to obtain within 3 months.
  • Lean work culture experience preferred.
  • CAD experience with NX or Inventor.
  • Experience in assembly fixturing and machine guarding preferred.
  • Experience with 365 tools (MS Planner, SharePoint, Visio).

Responsibilities

  • Lead capital projects including machine selection and cell layout with respect to facilities and utilities.
  • Develop and justify project timelines and budgets; report to upper management.
  • Assist in production cell layout for new product launches and validation.
  • Design and implement new processes; improve quality and OEE.
  • Support plant safety, ergonomics, and environmental initiatives.
  • Coordinate with maintenance, purchasing, quality, and product engineering.

Job description

This position is responsible for implementing and maintaining safe, cost effective, and Lean manufacturing processes to help service our customers.

Related job functions include writing specifications, working with vendors on capital improvement projects, designing tooling/fixturing, analyzing data, participating in Lean initiatives, designing/implementing cell layouts with respect to facilities & utilities. An individual in this role must be able to work well with operators and the toolroom, as well as other departments such as maintenance, purchasing, and quality.

  • Key contributor for capital projects. Responsibilities include machine selection, cell layout with respect to facilities & utilities, and financial justification. Will be working with operations, quality and product engineering to create and update control plans and facility requirements for installation of equipment and production startup.
  • Compile project update reports and present to upper management concerning project timeline and budgets.
  • Assist in production cell layout to support new product launches.
  • Assist in new product validation and production preparation.
  • Implement activities to design new processes, modify existing designs, improve production techniques and develop preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Develop new processes and implement technical solutions to existing processes designed to improve quality and overall equipment efficiency (OEE).
  • Ensure the safety of our workforce by understanding, believing and supporting the concept of safety being the number one priority by such methods as considering ergonomics and other safety factors when developing or updating processes, workstations, etc.
  • Serving as a back up resource for equipment fixes that are outside of the maintenance team’s core competency: processing systems, controls systems, etc.
  • Facilitate and support plant safety, environmental, and ergonomics efforts.
  • Participate in Kaizen events, sustainment activities and executing on lean improvement plans.
  • Assist in developing and implementing cost reduction initiatives through continuous improvement events.
  • Participate in daily process GEMBAs, weekly nights process GEMBAs, and weekly Safety GEMBAs.
  • Lead asset management initiatives including machine health and capital planning. Assist in asset critical support and manage vendor service contracts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What will help you thrive in this role?
  • Minimum 5 years experience in maintenance, facilities, or continuous improvement project management
  • OSHA 30 or the ability to obtain within 3 months
  • Preferred experience with a Lean work culture
  • Prior CAD experience, NX or Inventor preferred
  • Prior design experience in assembly fixturing and machine guarding preferred
  • Organizational skills
  • MS Planner, SharePoint, Vizio, and other 365 tools preferred
  • Prior experience in programmable drives, PLC, and other automation software/hardware a plus
  • Self-starter with ability to manage multiple projects with minimal management direction.
  • Lean/ Six Sigma Certification preferred but not required
  • Exposure to Lean and Quality Tools: DMAIC, Value Stream Mapping, 5S
