Job summary

Hubbell Incorporated in Missouri seeks a skilled machinist to set up and operate conventional machines and CNC equipment in the machine shop. You will repair, duplicate, and fabricate components for jigs, fixtures, dies, gauges, and tools from drawings or verbal instructions, while maintaining tight tolerances and quality.

You will also change die components, set up heat treat equipment, and may train colleagues. The role requires independence and reliability in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience in operating and setting up conventional machines in a machine shop.
  • Ability to repair, revise, duplicate, and fabricate components from sketches or drawings.
  • Tolerance management to +/- .0005 inches.
  • Familiarity with tooling such as perforating, blanking, trim and progressive dies.
  • Ability to train others in the department.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate all conventional machines in the machine shop, including CNC mills and lathes.
  • Repair, revise, duplicate, and fabricate components for jigs, fixtures, dies, tools from verbal instructions or drawings.
  • Work to tolerances of +/- .0005 inches; manage tooling and clearances.
  • Change components in dies in tool room and press; set up and operate heat treat equipment.
  • Train others in the department to improve knowledge and skills.
  • Perform other department duties such as operating material handling equipment if assigned.

1. Set-up and operate all conventional machines in the Machine Shop, to include, but not limited to CNC conversational control mills and lathes.

2. Repair, revise, duplicate, and fabricate any component for the jigs, fixtures, dies, machines, gauges, and tools through verbal instruction, sketches, or drawings.

3. 3. Work to tolerances of+/- .0005".

4. Maintain various types of tooling such as, but not limited to, perforating, blanking, trim and progressive dies. This includes timing, checking clearances and adjustments that do not require moving of components that are located with dowels, or dies with progression problems.

5. Change components in dies while in the tool room, as well as in the press.

6. Independently' make own set-ups for all assignments.

7. Required to set-up, operate, and maintain heat treat equipment, such as but not limited to, heat treat ovens, hardness tester, and dew pointer.

8. Reports directly to shift supervisor, but may be given direction by other assigned and authorized individuals in the department or organization. May be required to do work of equal or lower classification.

9. Will be required to train others in the department to help increase new as well as existing individuals knowledge and ability.

Additional Responsibilities:

May be required to perform various other duties in the department, such as operate material handling equipment, forklift, crane, or other.non-routine tasks as assigned. Will be required to furnish own hand tools, as well as measuring tools. and all other recommended tools for now and the future.
