Job Description

The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist is responsible for environmental, health, and safety compliance and program management for the plant. Provides regulatory expertise to ensure that all regulatory requirements applicable to the facility are known. Plans, organizes, and implements environmental, health, and safety activities at the facility, and assists in monitoring all activities to ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure plant management and operational staff are aware of current and pending regulatory requirements.
• Assist in creating processes to identify, evaluate, and control hazards in the workplace.
• Provide and track training to ensure compliance with OSHA requirements.
• Provide industrial hygiene support to evaluate employee noise and other health exposures.
• Manage all mandatory air, water, and waste compliance activities, including DOT regulations.
• Establish and maintain chemical inventory record systems to meet regulatory tracking requirements.
• Train staff on environmental, health, and safety policies, practices, and procedures.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, or related fields.
• At least 3 years of experience in environmental, health, and safety roles.
• Knowledge of VPP processes and safety standards (OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, NEC, etc.).
• Professional certification preferred.
• Ability to work non-traditional hours or shifts.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
