Job summary

Regions Hospital in Saint Paul, MN seeks a Front Desk/Scheduling Clerk to support patient appointments, reception, and clerical duties. Ideal candidates will handle scheduling for Lakeview/Regions hospitals, manage insurance verification, and maintain high quality service in a fast-paced environment.

Required are extensive experience in customer service, data entry, and scheduling, along with excellent communication and adherence to HIPAA.

Qualifications

• 4 years' experience in direct customer/patient service and data entry.
• 2 years' experience with patient scheduling in a customer-support role.
• Excellent written and spoken English and strong interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and protecting patient health information.

Job description

To provide patient appointment scheduling, reception, clerical and customer service functions to all patients, visitors, and employees.These functions include: scheduling appointments, procedures, patient reception, appointment check-in, insurance verification and other related duties as assigned. This position requires a thorough knowledge of scheduling practices for Lakeview and Regions hospitals, including OR scheduling functions that are related to breast surgery, medical/surgical terminology,and must have good communication and interpersonal skills. This work may vary in percentage of time per function on a daily basis.

Schedule: 1.0 FTE - 40 hrs weekly: Monday-Friday - 8:00am-4:30pm

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:

  • 4 years' experience in a direct customer/patient service position and computer/data entry required, and 2 years' experience with patient scheduling in a customer support related role.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Working knowledge and adherence of HIPAA, organizational policies, and department protocols to protect patient health information.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2 years' experience in healthcare setting.

  • None

• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • EPIC medical records experience or healthcare related computer programs.

  • Competency in medical/surgical terminology

  • Ability to schedule radiologic appointments.

  • Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively in a personable and professional manner
